SMT. ANNPURNA DEVI

PROFESSION: CABINET MINISTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (LOK SABHA) FROM KODERMA, JHARKHAND

Born on 2nd February 1970, Smt. Annpurna Devi was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1998, 2000 and 2005. She held the positions of Minister of State for Ministry of Mines and Geology, Government of Bihar in 2000 and Cabinet Minister, Ministry of lrrigation, Women and Child Welfare, Registration, Government of Jharkhand during 2012-2014. She was elected as Member of Parliament to 17th Lok Sabha in May 2019. She held the position as Union Minister of State, Ministry of Education from 07th July, 2021 onwards. She headed an expert committee on Revision of RTE (Right to Education) in view of National Education Policy 2020. ln the 2024 General Elections, she has been re-elected to the Lok Sabha from Koderma Parliamentary Constituency in Jharkhand.

She also functioned as Chairperson, Committee on Women & Child Welfare, Jharkhand Legislative Assembly during 2005-2009 and as Member, Standing Committee on industry during 9 October 2019 to 7 July 2021. She was Member, Committee on Empowerment of Women and also Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy during 9 October, 2019 to 7 July 2021.

Smt. Annpurna Devi is a Post Graduate from Ranchi University and hails from Village Kariyabar, Distt. Koderma, Jharkhand.

PROFESSION: MINISTER OF STATE FOR WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Smt. Savitri Thakur was born on 1st June 1978 in Kalikiray, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. She was the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from 2014-2019 and again re-elected in 2024, representing the Dhar constituency of Madhya Pradesh. In the past, she served as the Chairman of the Zila Panchayat from 2004 to 2009, where she played a crucial role in local governance and rural development. She was also the National Vice President in BJP Kisan Morcha from 2017 to 2020

As a parliamentarian, Smt. Thakur has been a member of several key committees, including the Committee on Empowerment of Women, Social Security Scheme, the Standing Committee on Industry, and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Railways.

Smt. Thakur’s dedication to social work is evident through her efforts in empowering women in tribal villages. She has organized job-oriented training programmes for tribal women, created self-help groups, and enabled their financial empowerment, significantly contributing to their socio-economic upliftment.
