About the programme
SPNIWCD is a premier organization devoted to promotion of voluntary action, research, training and documentation in the overall domain of Women and Child Development. The Institute functions as an apex institution for training functionaries three Missions- Saksham Anganwadi/Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti. Mental Health & Counselling is another key component of SPNIWCD.
The SPNIWCD internship programme aims to familiarize students, scholars, social activists, and teachers with the Ministry's policies through short-term associations by providing them qualitative exposure and tapping into their talent to contribute to policy formulation and address issues related to women and children, fostering meaningful interaction and research within the government's initiatives. Besides being a training Institution, In order to familiarize the interested and willing PG/Research students with the overall process of training and research in Women and Child Development schemes and programmes, Institute has been providing exposure to the students in the areas of Child Development, Women Development, ICDS Training, Voluntary Action & Counselling.
The students are attached with any of the Additional Director/ Joint Director of specialized Division Child Development, Women Development, Training, Public Cooperation and Regional Directors in charge of SPNIWCD Regional Centres located at Bengaluru, Guwahati, Lucknow, Indore and Mohali. Every year SPNIWCD provide Field Placement to PG/ Research students pursuing studies at various Universities and recognized Research Institutes and were given exposure to various areas of women and child development in SPNIWCD.
Process of Placement
Institute receive applications of PG/Research scholars through email or by post. Programme unit of the Institute put up the applications for the approval of Competent Authority. After getting the approval, the Joint Director, Incharge of Programme Unit decides the placement of students and student is placed for exposure with the Divisions and Regional Centres for the duration desired in letter of recommendation of the student. After successful completion of the placement, students needs to submit a report to get the certificate of Field Placement.
Institute has three kinds of facilities for students namely Internship (Paid and Unpaid) and Field/ Block placements for students for which different e office files have been initiated.
This file pertains to request for Field/ Block placements for students which is from Universities and colleges asking for field placement as part of their curriculum in the area of Women and Child Development and in this case no payment is made to students.
The process of field placements for students is as mentioned below.
- The Institute is in receipt of applications from various colleges/ Universities for field placement/ Block placement of students in the Institute: Institute receives applications of PG/Research scholars through email or by post by HODs of Universities and Colleges every year with regard to placement of students as a part of their curriculum.
- Programme unit of the Institute scrutinize the applications and then put up the applications for the approval of Competent Authority. All Applications are scrutinized and eligible students are sorted out as per request coming throughout the year.
- After getting the approval, the Joint Director, In charge of Programmed Unit decides the placement of students as per area of work and preference of the student with regards to the region (SPNIWCD HQs and Regional Centers)
- The student is placed with the Divisions at HQs and Regional Centres under respective supervisors (Faculty from the Institute) for the duration as decided for the field placement.
- Faculty / Supervisors of respective Division /Regional Centre from SPNIWCD chalk out chart of related activities as per work programme of the Institute and then continuous guide, support and monitor the performance of students during the field placement period.
- After successful completion, students submit a report (hard copy and soft copy) to get the certificate of Field Placement issued by Joint Director (Programme Unit) from SPNIWCD.
- Universities/ Colleges send a performance appraisal report for the student which is duly filled in by Supervisors at SPNIWCD and sent to the University for Further Necessary Action.
